TREATED IN DULUTH, GA (NORTH OF ATLANTA) at Georgia Eye Physicians & Surgeons
This extremely common eye condition is one that almost everyone exhibits at some point, usually in the form of flaking from the eyelid. Typically symptomized by red, inflamed eyelids and skin flaking, there are several types of blepharitis including anterior blepharitis, posterior blepharitis, and rosacea blepharitis. Most cases of blepharitis arise from bacterial infection or clogging of the oil glands (meibomian glands) near the base of the eyelashes. To determine the cause of your specific case, Dr. Segal or Dr. Lay will perform a complete eye exam and ask you a series of questions regarding your concerns as well as your lifestyle (diet, skin care routine, etc.) to best determine the appropriate blepharitis treatment.
For most patients, applying a warm compress and using gentle, exfoliating eyelid wash to clear the area of dead skin cells that could further inflame meibomian glands is successful. For those managing chronic cases of rosacea blepharitis, Dr. Segal and Dr. Lay will work with you individually to help identify the triggers of your condition and manage your symptoms.
