PERFORMED IN DULUTH, GA (NORTH OF ATLANTA) at Georgia Eye Physicians & Surgeons
Patients who have damaged cornea(s) from disease or trauma may benefit from a corneal transplant. A cornea transplant can correct vision impairment caused by the damaged cornea and can also relieve pain and other symptoms associated with cornea disease.
Cornea transplant can address a number of cornea conditions including thinning, scarring, clouding, swelling, bulging of the corneas as well as corneal ulcers.
Through an out-patient surgical procedure, Dr. Segal will replace part of your cornea with corneal tissue from a donor. During the procedure, Dr. Segal will remove a small disc of corneal tissue and the donor cornea will be placed in the opening and stitched into place. Sometimes a complete cornea transplant is not necessary and partial transplants may be more beneficial including replacing the inner or surface layers of the cornea.
During a pre-surgery consultation and eye exam, Dr. Segal will thoroughly discuss the procedure as well as any questions or concerns you may have.
